Freaky Deaky IV (Part 1) – Event Preview
Looks like our homies over at React Presents wanted to make sure that we all had our Halloween plans in place. They are bringing it hard this Halloween with two nights of the infamous "Freaky Deaky" dance parties held at The Congress Theatre. Let me point this out, this massive two night event is more reminiscent of a music festival then 'concerts.'
Night one 10/26/12
Gunlove
Chicago resident Dylan Castle, AKA Gunlove is one of the hardest working men in Chicago. Not only does he DJ under the name Gunlove, he is drummer for rising electro-funk band, Ghosthouse. He has played at the last two Freaky Deaky events, and has an impressive list of names he has opened for under his belt. Gunlove will create a unique playlist for any event he is asked to play, always adapting to said event.
Nobody Beats The Drum
Nobody Beats The Drum is one of the harder EDM acts to describe. One look at their music videos and one can get a pretty good picture of what kind of set to expect. Their videos are as sporadic and hectic as their live sets, in the greatest way possible. They proclaim to be able to turn the crowd into, "a sweaty, writhing heap of body parts." Expect the most multi genre set to come from NBTD.
Popeska
19 year old producer, Ralf Popescu, better known as Popeska quickly caught Wolfgang Gartner's eyes and ears, and he is ready to catch yours. Upon hearing Popeska's very unique tracks, he was quickly signed onto Wolfgang Gartner's Kindergarten Records. A quick trip through his Soundcloud lends your ears to some real catchy melodies laced with good vocals and some awesome sounds that are collected from a handful of different influential genres and artists. Make sure to get there early to catch this fresh new face and sound that you will not forget anytime soon. Listen and snag a free download of his track, "Hats."
Midnight Conspiracy
If you're from Chicago, odds are you have partied with Midnight Conspiracy and The Dead Fame Bass crew. Sets crowded with sweat, stage dives and bass, Midnight Conspiract rarely disappoints. Recently signed with Ultra records and touring with a new laser/light show, it is a real treat to have them on the bill. Listen and download to the newest Dead Fame mixtape below. Be ready to catch one or both members of Midnight Conspiracy if you are anywhere near the front row.
Wolfgang Gartner
In the midst of his very own national Love and War Tour Wolfgang Gartner will make a quick stop in Chicago. Collaborations with artists varying from Skrillex and Deadmau5 to pop superstars Omarion and Will.i.am has made him one of the most recognizable names in music today. His unforgettable chord progression mixed with a signature electro progression makes his tracks stick out from most. In what looks like an all star electro lineup jammed into two days, Wolfgang Gartner has more than claimed his place.
Bloody Beetroots (DJ Set)
Bloody Beetroots is the brain child of Italian producer Sir Bob Corenlius Rifo. The mask wearing duo of Rifo and Tommy Tea have been around the world, making crowds jump and scream harder than anyone else can. Their sets are punch to the gut-electro, laced with some hard punk influences. Rifo wishes to create a 'chaos' in every track he makes. Expect nothing but chaos when they take the stage, it won't be a set for the faint of heart.
