Monument - Wake Up EP is a massive two song electro EP from a great new producer, Monument. He hails from the Washington DC area, and was recently voted DC's #1 DJ according to the Washington City Paper. After hearing his music, I believe that this kid has what it takes to make it to the next level. Both tracks on this EP bang super duper hard and have heavy fat bass lines that make you want to get up and move!

The first track, "Coma", starts with an eerie sampling of a smoke detector beeping. While listening to this the first time I thought my house was burning down! Piano riffs chime in along with some whooshing air before being told to "Wake Up". The drop throws a crunchy bassline directly in to your face as the female vocalist continues to tell you to "Wake Up". After another tension building strings section, the track gets thrown directly into a HEAVY banging dubstep song! Screams of "Wake Up" are not the only brutal part of this drop. The bass gnarls and contorts to fit in every crevice that your ear has. This song is certified Filthy with a capital F!

The second track on the EP is titled "Kill Them All" and bangs just as hard as "Coma". Slightly more progressive in its approach, this track begins with a piano riff, extended on to a synth sound. A break in the action demonstrates some impressive musicianship through the piano and strings section. Then, the drop comes in hard and strong, a punchy kick drum and a great variety of whips and blips make this tune jump all over the place. The layering of eerie samples and classic piano tones is worked perfectly in to the mix - mad props to Monument for his musicianship on this track!
